I am sorry everyone! I realized I forgot to tell you about my own synesthesia!
Here is what I know I have:
- Grapheme-colour
- Music-colour
- Concept-syn
- Ordinal-linguistic personification
And here's what I'm pretty darn sure I have:
- Emotion-touch
- Music-motion
This is the blog for YSI. Young Synesthetes International is an organization that wants to change the world's view of synesthesia. We want to join together as a big family so that we can let people know about our amazing, colourful world!

Songs that need motion
I've realized lately that I like to listen to most songs while in motion. I don't like listening to my iPod while I'm not moving; even when I'm in a car or bus, I often have to pause the music when we stop because the song just needs motion. A song with a good driving drum beat will need more motion than one without, but it isn't necessarily about speed - like a slower song could potentially need motion just as much as a faster one if it had a good beat. I've considered that this might be OCD, but if it was, there wouldn't really be any reason for the pausing and playing of the music. No, it's more than just random compulsions - these songs really have an element of motion to them. I've also considered music-motion syn, which makes more sense. But usually this syn makes people literally move their bodies to the music, and this isn't that extreme.
So what do you guys think? A dumbed-down version of music-motion syn? OCD? Or a mix of the two?

Questions?
Hey everybody!
So this here's your chance to ask me anything and everything about syn! Family don't believe you? I'll give you advice! Wanna know about my syn? I'll be happy to tell you about it! Think you have syn? I'll help you confirm it! Still mystified about syn in general? I'll try to clear the air for you.
So ask away, and I'll try my best to get back to you :)

Childhood memories of syn
My first memory of syn is in kindergarten. I was 5. We were sitting on the floor and Mrs. Cummings was teaching us how to spell the word "out". We recited a little phrase to help us remember: "O-U-T spells out, and out you must go!" I remember seeing O-U-T as gold-grey-green.
My next memory happened when I was probably 7 or so. I was colouring with my friend Hilary with crayons. One crayon sticks out in my memory: it was a pale pinkish-orange (kind of like my N, but pinker) and it was called "Annabelle." I remember loving that crayon since the colour fit the name.
For as long as I can remember, I drew cats yellow-orange and dogs brown because cat was yellow-orange and dog was brown.
I remember sitting in the backseat on a family trip and listening to "Does Your Mother Know" by Abba, and I saw a white background with lots of coloured shapes on it. This is one of the only music-syn memories from my childhood.
